Unbeatable Protection From One of the “Big 7”

What began as a single, groundbreaking coating is, today, multiple unique products—what we refer to as the “Big 7.” Each member of this exclusive club is formulated and optimized to meet different requirements. Here, we’ll discuss the highlights of Electrolizing TDC.

Collectively they are the Big 7 because there are, of course, many other ways that Armoloy TDC® could be modified. But in our experience with hundreds of clients and thousands of projects through the years, we’ve found that our seven specialized coatings cover virtually every scenario and requirement imaginable. 

Corrosion, Friction, and Other Forces Don’t Stand a Chance 

Electrolizing TDC has unique properties that make it the gold standard coating for many industrial applications. It is a TDC coating that increases wear resistance and performs at <1.2 TWI per AMS 2438. It also complies with ASTM-B-117 and provides extended corrosion protection compared to stainless steel.

With a hardness rating of 70-72 on the Rockwell C scale and lubricity as low as 0.09 CoF, Electrolizing® has a pronounced positive effect on the surface-to-surface contact of moving parts. The significant friction reduction enables metal components to slide over one another with surprisingly little resistance. 

In fact, the material functions as an effective dry lubricant, preventing galling and the need for cold welding. It is also beneficial for threaded components.

What’s more, is our coating process achieves absolute adhesion. As a result, the material becomes part of and inseparable from the surface to which we apply it. It will not chip, flake, or peel. Over time, it will continue to present a smooth, fine-grained gray satin finish free of blisters, nodules, porosity, and the potential for edge build-up.

Designed With Industrial Applications in Mind

Electrolizing® TDC is a proprietary coating made of pure chromium that produces very hard surfaces and can be used in thicknesses of 0.00005″ to 0.001″. The coating is applied in a cold process (at a temperature below 180 degrees Fahrenheit), which protects precision-machined parts from annealing and distortion.
