THE FIRST NAME IN THIN DENSE CHROME
Armoloy TDC has been the first name in thin dense chrome for over 60 years. A precision chromium coating effective even at deposits as low as .000050″, Armoloy TDC eliminates the need for secondary machining operations after plating.
Armoloy TDC is the quality coating of choice for high precision applications delivering reduced wear, friction, and corrosion across a broad spectrum of manufacturing applications.
Armoloy TDC is approvable for FDA applications and considered safe for food contact via a blanket approval from the USDA. Armoloy TDC plating also complies with REACH, WEEE/RoHS and meets biocompatibility standards for medical applications.
Armoloy TDC is a very hard (up to 78 Rc) coating with a coefficient of friction as low as .12, which also provides corrosion resistance equivalent to 440C stainless steel. These excellent wear properties can help extend part life by up to 5x and significantly reduces downtime due to component replacement. The Armoloy TDC wear values exceed 1.2 TWI limits established within AMS 2438.
Armoloy TDC metallic coatings are ideal for nearly every industrial steel application, from tool steels such as S-7 and H-13, to bearing steels such as 52100 and 8620, to cold roll, hot roll, high-carbon, and low-carbon steels, to cast iron.
Stainless steel, bronze, copper, and brass are also common substrates requiring additional wear and anti-galling protection. Our coatings’ absolute adhesion will extend component life while providing the added security of knowing that the coating will not de-laminate during use.
For optimal performance in both wear and corrosion applications, the harder and smoother the surface the better. Surfaces with finishes under 8 RMS may require a post polish to retain their design requirements, however, the Armoloy coating is not suitable for mirror finishes. Contact your Armoloy engineer to discuss these applications.

The Armoloy family of coatings are specifically designed to keep machinery and equipment running longer. For increased wear life, reduced friction, protection from corrosion and galling, and many other benefits, Armoloy of Illinois provides a full range of metallic surface coatings to the manufacturing community. High precision is our specialty.
Armoloy provides industry-leading protective metallic coatings that benefit various industries, including food processing/packaging, oil/gas extraction, Aerospace, medical, and nuclear industries, to name a few. Metal surface treatments tailored to these applications must withstand extremely harsh conditions and provide added durability capable of extending the life of components and systems. Our experienced staff can help engineer the right metal finishing solution to your application.
Our proprietary metal surface treatments are fully compliant with the industry's most rigorous requirements and certifications. At less than 170ᵒF, the Armoloy metal finish process is considered a "cold process" that will not distort or anneal coated parts. The Armoloy coatings form a hard protective metallic surface with an absolute bond to the base metal that will not affect part tolerances or balance. This thin, precision coating will improve surface hardness and lubricity while dramatically increasing your coated parts' wear life. Our stringent quality requirements and onsite product testing will ensure your parts meet strict industry standards.
Armoloy offers a variety of coating solutions engineered to solve your coating needs. The Armoloy TDC/XADC coating will not flake, chip or peel from your base material ensuring a safe coating process that is food and medical application safe. Your maintenance and machinery expenses will lessen thanks to the coating's increased wear resistance leading to decreased downtime and replacement costs. Don't settle for traditional metallic plating shortcomings when you can have the Armoloy family of coatings protecting your valuable automated systems and components.
